2014 Tax Help

October saw the end of another successful Tax Help program at Somerville. Our Financials Services staff, in Darwin & Katherine have been kept busy in assisting clients to lodge their tax returns.

October saw the end of another successful Tax Help program at Somerville. Our Financials Services staff, in Darwin & Katherine have been kept busy in assisting clients to lodge their tax returns.

The Tax Help program is in its 26th year and Somerville has been providing this free service for a number of years. Our staff, not only educate clients with lodging their tax returns, but assist those who might otherwise be overwhelmed or confused by their tax obligations, engage with the system.

To say thank you to the Tax Help Volunteers the ATO recently held a morning tea at Somerville which the volunteers enjoyed.

Tax Help is a free and confidential service and is suitable for people with simple tax affairs who earn around $50,000 a year or less. Volunteers operate from 1 July until 31 October and are fully trained, accredited and supported by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
