Wingara Mura – Bunga Barrabugu Summer Program at SCA

Sydney College of the Arts (SCA) welcomed twenty year 11 and 12 Aboriginal and Torrres Strait Islander students from all over the country in January for the annual Bunga Barrabugu Summer Program. The program provides participating high school students with the opportunity to experience university life, understand the links between their interests and possible careers, and valuable peer-to-peer support.

Somerville supported Accommodation Case Worker – Sheree Smellin, who organised and arranged for a number of students from Territory schools to attend. This is the first time Northern Territory students have been involved in the program. The talented group of students engaged in a program of art-making and produced creative work in the Print Media, Screen Arts and Jewellery studios, as well as creating a group mural painting.
