What is the No Interest Loans Scheme?
The Somerville No Interest Loans Scheme provides people on low incomes with flexible and affordable credit for the purchase of essential household items.
Who is eligible?
Centrelink recipients, holding a current Health Care Card.
Applicants must reside in the Darwin, Palmerston and outer Darwin area with postcodes 0800 through 0836.
People making the transition from being homeless to stable accommodation.
People eligible for assistance under the Supported Accommodation Assistance Programme.
Applicants must have the ability and willingness to repay the loan.
What items can be purchased?
Loans can only be used for the purchase of
basic household white goods eg. fridge or washing machine.
What do applicants need to do?
All applicants are required to attend an interview to discuss their application. Information required includes name, address, accommodation status, income source and purpose of loan. We also require information such as proof of identity, current power and telephone accounts, tenancy agreement, and details of your income and expenses as well as total debts outstanding.
