Somerville Christmas Carols

Four amazing choirs recently helped Somerville and our community celebrate Christmas at Parliament House.

Thank you to the talented singers of the Darwin Chorale, Darwin Youth Choir, the Sing Song Signers and our very own Somerville Choir. What an amazing array of voices.

And a big thank you to everyone who attended and added to the evening with their wonderful voices.

Discovering a Passion for Art

StepOut Community Access Program in conjunction with Katherine Regional Arts (KRA) brokered an Arts program in the weeks leading up to the Royal Katherine Show.

KRA supports local artists and cultural development in the region. The program was established to give people with a disability the opportunity to express themselves through art under the guidance of an experienced artist.

The end goal is to have a painting they completed themselves.

Vicki O’Halloran appointed new Northern Territory Administrator

Vicki O’Halloran, our much beloved CEO is to become the next Administrator of the Northern Territory. What an amazing honour and how proud we are at Somerville of Vicki.

This however is testimony to Vicki’s terrific capacity and the deep respect in which the Northern Territory community holds her. She has excelled as a Territory leader who has dedicated her working life to the community services sector, relentlessly working to make each day better for people facing significant challenges.

Celebrating NAIDOC week - a Yarn in the Park

Arrente, Tiwi, Larrakia and AUSLAN - some of the many languages shared as Somerville hosted "Yarn in the Park" earlier this month in celebration of NAIDOC week and this year's theme, "Our Languages Matter".

Kids, parents and grandparents from many heritages, including Tiwi Islands, Dutch, Arrernte country, Timorese, Larrakia, Scottish and Portuguese shared exciting new words with each other while savouring delicious sausage and onion sandwiches.

Somerville Katherine hosts annual Garden Party

Every year, Somerville Katherine hosts an annual Garden Party to thank our wonderful staff and partners for the work they do supporting the community in Katherine.

Sharing the sunshine and a delicious morning tea with members of our Board and Management, guests were updated on Somerville Katherine's current programs and enjoyed tales from our guest speaker, Toni Tapp Coutts - author of A Sunburnt Childhood.
